Ventilation systems

Fresh air and a healthy indoor environment for homes and commercial buildings.

Galvanised ventilation ducts in the school kitchen

For over 10 years we have designed and installed ventilation systems for residential and commercial buildings. Well-designed ventilation improves productivity, protects people's health and keeps a constant supply of fresh air. When indoor air is not refreshed for a long time, people get tired and their performance drops.

We deliver engineering solutions that meet quality and modern safety standards. The main components are fans, air ducts, electric motors, air heaters, dust collectors and automation.

Types of ventilation

Natural ventilation
A roof deflector or shaft creates a pressure difference. No electricity needed.
Supply ventilation
Fresh air is blown in and stale air is pushed out.
Mechanical ventilation
Runs on fans and ducts, independent of outdoor conditions.
Extract ventilation
Removes dust, odours and carbon monoxide. Usually installed on the roof.
Centralised ventilation
A separate duct to each room, so each room can run its own mode.
Safety and smoke extraction
Removes smoke and toxic gases during a fire and supports evacuation.
General ventilation
Organises a controlled flow of fresh supply air and stale extract air. Each room is served by its own line, so air from different rooms never mixes. The most practical solution for spaces of any type.

Central air handling units (AHU)

A central air handling unit (AHU) cools and heats the air, filters it, dries or humidifies it and ventilates the building at the same time. Cooling comes from a chiller or a DX condensing unit, heating from the central heating system or a boiler. The unit sits close to the spaces it serves, on the roof, on a plant floor or in the basement, and ductwork distributes the air to the rooms. It is built from several sections, each with its own function.

  • Fresh air supplied and distributed at the right temperature, with humidity control
  • Extends the service life of split and other air conditioners
  • One unit for the whole building, so no clutter of outdoor units on the façade

Ventilation for apartments

Modern construction methods and airtight plastic windows keep fresh air from entering an apartment naturally, while street noise and polluted air make opening the windows a poor option. An air conditioner only controls temperature; it does not replace the air. Without ventilation it simply creates “stuffy coolness”, and the lack of oxygen leaves people tired and can affect their health. That is why an apartment is best served by both an air conditioner and a ventilation system.

The best option for apartments is a supply ventilation system. It cleans outdoor air of dust, odours and harmful gases, heats it when needed and delivers it to the rooms. Stale air is pushed out by the resulting overpressure through the extract ducts in the kitchen and bathrooms.

Ventilation for offices

Every office worker needs about 50 m³ of fresh air per hour, and staff health, mood and productivity depend directly on ventilation. Offices are often rented and most have no ventilation system. Rather than installing a large central system, compact units that are easy to dismantle and reinstall are the sensible choice: when the company moves, the system can follow it to the new premises in a short time. For city-centre offices we recommend filtration that removes harmful gases as well as dust.
